Become a dementia advocate

Your story matters! Become a dementia advocate.

Every person impacted by dementia has a story to tell. Many want to share their story to help improve the lives of others, but do not know where to begin. Anyone with a diagnosis of dementia, as well as carers or former carers of people with dementia can become a Dementia Advocate.

To become a Dementia Advocate, or to learn more about the program email the Dementia Australia Consumer Engagement Team: advocates@dementia.org.au

As a Dementia Advocate you will:

  • Raise awareness of dementia
  • Enable greater social inclusion for people with dementia
  • Help government and service providers recognise the needs of people living with dementia and their families
  • Tackle stigma and discrimination associated with dementia

As a Dementia Advocate you can:

  • Share your story with the media and attend special events
  • Contribute to parliamentary reports and dementia policy
  • Assist with fundraising campaigns and speak at forums and public events
  • Learn new skills and build confidence as a community leader

Be involved as much or as little as you like. All you need is a desire to improve the lives of people living with dementia!
