Mother's Day for many is a day to celebrate everything great about our mums.
For Memory Walk & Jog participant and mother of two Tara from the Gold Coast it will be no different. Tara will be remembering her mum, Jeanne, who sadly passed away from dementia early last year.
"My beautiful mum Jeanne Norton was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's in her early 60's and unfortunately passed away on 20th February 2016 at the age of 70."
"It has been incredibly hard and heartbreaking to watch someone you love, who was so full of life and so kind hearted, to start to lose parts of themselves which made them who they were, and to see them become so confused and scared.
"Our team called Team Langey Fighting Alzheimer's did the Memory Walk last year and will be doing it again in 2017 as we are hoping to raise awareness to help find a cure for this horrible and cruel disease."
244 Australians are diagnosed with dementia every day
Dementia is also the second leading cause of death in Australia and there is presently no cure.
Thank you for joining Tara and Dementia Australia (Qld) at Memory Walk & Jog on Sunday 28th May (Brisbane), Sunday 4th June (Gold Coast), Sunday 18th June (Sunshine Coast) and for helping to raise funds for people like Jeanne.
With your help we can get one step closer to beating dementia!
