Dementia Australia Advocates were invited to participate in an Advocate drop-in session to discuss advocacy topics that they would like to focus on in future sessions.

More than 30 Advocates joined the drop-in session on Zoom to catch up with one another and share their ideas for future topics.

There were some great suggestions, such as:

  • advocacy training
  • social media training
  • how to meet with politicians
  • information on how to be involved in research opportunities and
  • the use of technology to support people living with dementia to live as independently as possible (i.e. apps where reminders can be set for taking medication, storing photos/music).

We will use these suggestions to plan future Advocate drop-in sessions so keep an eye out for an email invitation to the next session in the coming weeks.
