As Dementia News hits your inbox, Dementia Australia is eagerly preparing for our busiest time of the year, September, which is Dementia Awareness Month.
This annual awareness raising month aims to improve people’s understanding of dementia, by sharing the facts, dispelling the myths and highlighting the supports and services Dementia Australia can provide to people living with dementia, and their families and carers.
Our national CEO, Carol Bennett, has decided to move on from Dementia Australia. We have been very fortunate to have Carol’s national leadership over the last two years.
With her dedication to the cause, Carol has represented and advocated strongly for people with dementia and has championed some outstanding achievements for people with dementia and their carers.
As we farewell Carol, we are very fortunate to welcome Maree McCabe, Dementia Australia Vic CEO, as the interim National CEO. We are grateful to have someone of Maree’s calibre to take up the position, to ensure the work of Dementia Australia continues.
We encourage everyone to get involved in Dementia Awareness Month, to help raise awareness of the condition, so people living with dementia are better understood and feel less isolated and alone.
We look forward to having you at our Dementia Awareness Month events. To find out what is happening near you during September, visit the national website.
From all of us at Dementia Australia, we thank you for your continued support.
