Dementia Australia's facilitators have specialist dementia knowledge, skills and experience. These sessions are delivered interactively, you will be encouraged to share your experiences alongside other participants giving you an opportunity to develop new support networks.
You will gain knowledge in:
- how dementia can impact a person’s ability to participate in activities
- effective communication and the importance of a supportive environment
- suitable activities to engage someone living with dementia at home
Suitable for: Family carers and family members of people living with dementia.
This session will benefit people caring for or supporting a family member who has dementia at various stages of their journey post diagnosis. This session is not suitable for people living with dementia.
This session can be delivered on the behalf of aged care and disability service providers onsite to people living with dementia and their families. If you would like to discuss onsite delivery, please contact the National Dementia Helpline on 1800 100 500.
This program is not suitable for professional carers or people employed in the health or aged care industries. The resources, content and delivery will not meet the needs of professionals.
