Corporate volunteering

Culture is increasingly important in any workplace, and as such, many organisations now offer their employees two volunteer days per year.

Dementia Australia Values

  • Diversity and Equality
  • Respect and Inclusiveness
  • Integrity and Accountability

Whilst these are used in many different ways, the aims are usually the same: to help increase employee engagement; show the organisation’s commitment to the community; and create opportunities to strengthen team relationships.

At Dementia Australia, we rely heavily on volunteers for ongoing support and at key times of the year. In particular, our corporate volunteers often assist with event, fundraising, marketing and administrative support. Depending on the activity, we accept corporate volunteers as large groups, individuals or as small groups on rotation.

We understand that, in some organisations, corporate volunteer days may be limited to a specific date. If your chosen date does not line up with one of our areas of need, we will let you know. If you are flexible with your dates, and in some cases, are also open to volunteering on a weekend or evening, then we would be delighted to suggest events or activities for your employees. You may find, for example, that weekend volunteering could be a good way to get employee families involved and mingling too.

The majority of our corporate volunteers are placed in unskilled positions, i.e. where enthusiasm, common sense and lots of hands are the key ingredients for success.

Skilled volunteering can also be an option if skill sets match up to a Dementia Australia need. This might include tasks like website or database creation, social media post creation, customer care via our call centre and more, so please keep this in mind when you are investigating options for your employees.
