We invite you to visit our Centre for Dementia Learning and experience all that we have to offer to help transform your organisation, practice, relationship, community and the lives of those living with dementia.
Dementia Australia is a leading dementia learning service in Australia. Our highly skilled team has extensive experience in a wide range of areas, facilitating learning experiences which touch, move and inspire participants to transform their practice. Our approach builds highly skilled dementia practitioners across a broad range of professions. We also facilitate organisational transformations through our consultancy work with providers. This work can help to achieve better outcomes for consumers and promote a positive work culture that can reduce staff turnover.
Dementia Australia provides a range of educational workshops, seminars and information sessions for Health Professionals.
We provide a range of nationally accredited courses for residential and community care service professionals and healthcare providers. All of our courses have an applied focus on skill development and reflective practice, enabling course participants to transform their practice, and potentially that of others, to enhance the lives of people living with dementia.
Cognitive impairment (dementia and delirium) is currently under-recognised in Australian hospitals, leading to significant safety and quality issues. However, harm can be minimised if cognitive impairment is recognised early and support is tailored to the needs of the patient. The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care has acknowledged the significance of this issue for health care with the development of its ‘Better Way to Care’ resource range. Discuss your healthcare training needs with our consultants who have in-depth knowledge of our wide range training programs, including those relevant to the healthcare setting.
As many disability organisations prepare for the more competitive, market driven environment that NDIS will bring, many are reviewing how customer-centred they are. Given the higher prevalence of dementia amongst people with an intellectual as well as other forms of disability, there is a need to make sure you are well positioned to serve the needs of this group. As the leading dementia learning service in Australia, our highly skilled team is equipped with extensive dementia practice knowledge in a wide range of areas, facilitating learning experiences which touch, move and inspire participants to transform their practice.
Residential Aged Care Services
The significant reforms to the Residential Aged Care sector as a result of the Living Longer Living Better initiative have bought increased resident choice and expectations in relation to care. As the leading dementia service in Victoria with over 30 years of practice and leadership in dementia education, we can help you to transform your practice and the lives of those living with dementia.
Community Care Services
The Living Longer Living Better reforms provide support for this choice and emphasise that the care and support for people with dementia is now considered core business rather than a special needs area for all providers. Consequently there is an increased need for community care organisations to ensure that they are responsive to the needs of consumers living with dementia. Dementia Australia is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) offering accredited programs and a broad range of dementia specific workshops and seminars to community care service providers and community support services.
