Occurring Dates:

Participant Duration:
One interview - approximately 60 minutes in duration
State of study:
Queensland
Overview:

The aim of this study is to examine the experiences of male caregivers of those living with dementia, and their perceptions on how psychosocial aspects (relationships/socialisation and mental wellbeing) of their lives have been impacted. It also aims to gain a deeper understanding of the lives of male carers and their psychosocial needs.

Current or past (informal) male carers for those experiencing dementia (who are aged over 50 years and have been in this role for more than 3 months) are all invited to participate in this research project. This project will include attending an individual interview with a member of the research team who will ask you to describe your experiences caring for those with dementia through several set questions. The interview will be taped and will be approximately 45 – 60 minutes in length. Participants will also be reimbursed for expenses incurred as a result of participating in this research, in the form of a Coles/Myer gift card.
