Memory Walk & Jog started as a small community event in Homebush.
The first Memory Walk was held in 2004 and brought together 1,000 people whose lives had been touched by dementia.
What started as a small community event has grown to be one of Dementia Australia’s major fundraising events. All money raised goes directly back into the support services offered by Dementia Australia in the local areas. In 2017 Memory Walk & Jog tours in 17 locations across the country as the event continues to grow and get more exposure.
There is estimated to be more than 413,106 Australians living with dementia. It is the second leading cause of death in Australia and there is no cure. Each week, there are 1,800 new cases of dementia in Australia; one person every six minutes.
Your fundraising efforts through Memory Walk & Jog will enable Dementia Australia to continue to provide much-needed support services, education and social research.
Fundraising is easier than ever before and can be lots of fun. So get involved, get fundraising and help us help people in your community.
