Stories of yesterday
This is a song that I have dedicated to my Nan Elizabeth Johnson.
She is 86 and living with Alzheimer’s disease.
I wrote this song after seeing her one afternoon - her memory was playing up especially bad this particular time and it was difficult to have a continuous conversation. But she was content to sit in her back garden as she always does, listening to the radio and telling me about the history of Newcastle. She loves her back garden often calling it her beautiful lounge room. I guess I wrote it to show people how I see her and the changes her Alzheimer’s has brought on.
She has a beautiful family and a long life full of wonderful stories. Even though she might forget all of that one day, I don't want other people to forget her.
