Connecting Peers

Dementia Australia's one-to-one Peer Support program connects you with someone who understands your challenges because they have been through a similar experience.

Connecting Peers:

  • is delivered across Australia by volunteers known as Peer Leaders
  • brings people together based on similar experiences and interests
  • connects participants by phone or Zoom.

Peer Leaders volunteer their time to provide empathy and support from their own lived experience as someone who is living with dementia, or caring for someone living with dementia.

If you are living with mild cognitive impairment or dementia you will be matched with someone with the same diagnosis. A carer is matched to another carer.

Connecting Peers is available across Australia.

You can register to receive peer support or apply to become a volunteer Peer Leader. Participants may receive the support they need in a single call or choose to have multiple calls with their Peer Leader. The minimum time commitment to be a volunteer Peer Leader is just one hour per month over 6 months.
