Webinar: Creativity and Dementia

Dementia Australia webinars are free videos where subject experts discuss topics relating to dementia for a general audience.

Creativity is for everyone and can give people living with dementia opportunities to get in touch with and express themselves.

In this webinar, Associate Professor Helen English discusses the benefits of creative engagement. Helen is joined by Maurie Voisey-Barlin, a Creative Engagement Specialist in music and improvisation, and Margaret Rolla, Creative Ageing Specialist and director of Artintuit, who will talk about how they use creativity as a tool to connect and engage.

You will learn:

  • why creativity is for everyone: we are inherently creative and after 60 we become more so
  • how creative activities give people living with dementia opportunities to get in touch with and express themselves
  • ways that participating in creative activities allows an individual and carer or family member to reconnect, with practical ideas and tips.
