Diversity, equity and inclusion
At Dementia Australia, we are committed to creating a workplace where every individual is respected, valued and supported to succeed.
Inclusion at Dementia Australia begins with curiosity.
We take the time to ask questions, listen with care and see the person behind every story. Every day, we work alongside colleagues, families, carers and people living with dementia whose experiences shape who we are and how we work.
Each story is unique and every experience matters. When we stay open and curious, we uncover what is most important to the people we support and to one another. Often it is through a conversation, a shared laugh or a story told with courage that we find strength, connection and understanding.
At Dementia Australia, everyone brings something valuable. Every story adds to our collective strength. Together, we are building a workplace and community where everyone feels respected, valued and supported to thrive.
Because there is pride in every person, and strength in every story.
Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy
Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Strategy sets the direction for the next three years for how we create an inclusive, equitable and diverse workplace, and supports us to deliver services that reflect the communities we support.
Grounded in our ALICE principles (Authentic, Living Experience, Inclusive, Collaborative and Empowering), the Strategy brings together how we work together with the way we support the people and communities we serve.
Our approach focuses on actions that make inclusion part of everyday work. We do this by creating opportunities for people to connect and learn, supporting leaders to model inclusive behaviour, designing fair and accessible systems, and measuring our progress against recognised national benchmarks.

Our Employee Resource Groups
Our Employee Resource Groups are staff-led communities that help shape our culture and ensure diverse voices are represented in our work. They create spaces for reflection, connection and action. Each group focuses on a key area of inclusion, guided by lived and living experience.
Together, they help build awareness, strengthen allyship and make sure our culture reflects the diversity of the people and communities we serve.

We are committed to listening, learning and improving. If you have feedback or suggestions about the information above, please contact the DEI Team at DEI@dementia.org.au.
