Barcoo Community Village Incorporated
Barcoo Community Village Incorporated is a community-based organisation supporting older people, people living with dementia, carers, families, and vulnerable residents across Blackall, Tambo, and surrounding Central West Queensland communities.
Our organisation is committed to helping people age in place safely, with dignity, connection, and access to local support services. We provide programs and activities that promote health, wellbeing, social inclusion, independence, and community participation for rural and remote residents.
We understand the unique challenges faced by people living with dementia and their carers in regional communities, including isolation, limited services, and long travel distances. Our goal is to create a dementia-friendly community where people feel respected, included, understood, and supported.
Programs and activities may include:
- Social support and community connection activities
- Health, wellness, and gentle exercise programs
- Community education and awareness events
- Dementia-friendly initiatives and advocacy
- Carer support and peer connection opportunities
- Intergenerational and inclusive community activities
- Partnerships with local health and community organisations
- Community information sessions such as advance care planning, end-of-life education, and healthy ageing programs
We welcome all members of the community, including people living with dementia, carers, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and people from diverse backgrounds.
