Palmerston Dementia Alliance (PDA) is a volunteer-driven, community-based initiative working across Palmerston and greater Darwin to build a dementia-friendly region. We convene carers, families, people with lived experience, allied health professionals, community leaders, and multicultural associations to coordinate practical support and reduce isolation. PDA hosts welcoming social programs such as morning teas and “Memories on a Plate” cultural food gatherings alongside information sessions that share everyday strategies, routines, and referrals. We advocate for carer wellbeing, accessible services, and culturally safe engagement, and we partner with local organisations to amplify resources rather than duplicate them. Guided by good governance and sustainability, we aim to formalise enduring structures for representation, funding, and service continuity. Above all, our purpose is simple: help people living with dementia and the people who love them feel seen, supported, and connected in the place they call home.
