Senior Rights Service – Darwin Community Legal Service

NT

DCLS is a community-based organisation committed to legal and social justice and the protection of human rights in the Northern Territory. We assist those who are disadvantaged to access justice by:

▪ Providing high-quality legal advice and advocacy services
▪ Identifying issues and advocating for law reform
▪ Promoting an understanding of rights and how to assert them.

Darwin Community Legal Service applies a multi-disciplinary socio-legal approach, with strong internal and external collaboration to maximise forms of support, advocacy and assistance for clients.

DCLS focuses on community empowerment and advocates for positive change to law and the legal system with and for community members.

Community empowerment aims to:

▪ enable individuals and groups to influence matters that affect them and contribute to positive change for the benefit of others they care about, and
▪ improve wellbeing, caring, understanding, fairness and justice.

DCLS strives to be active in the community by collaborating with organisations, providing free legal and advocacy education sessions, highlighting systemic issues and by working to achieve reform.
