South Brisbane Seventh-day Adventist Church
South Brisbane Adventist Church is the oldest Adventist church in Brisbane, established in 1898. We have spawned many daughter congregations both English-speaking and ethnic in the intervening time. We are now a very multicultural family church focused on reaching out and serving our community for God, with programs that cater for all age levels.
We are a church passionate about serving our community and have already helped support people with other disabilities within our congregation. In recent years, several of our former elders and board members have died from or are currently living with dementia. This has helped to focus our attention on the particular needs of people with dementia.
These are some of our current activities for people living with dementia:
- we have a team focused on making our built environment better
- we are educating our congregation, youth and children to become more dementia friendly
- we are supporting the family care partners
- offering dementia friendly programs to the local community.
