Dementia Advocates provided valuable feedback as part of a national consultation on the new Clinical Care Standard for the use of psychotropic medicines.

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare approached Dementia Australia to facilitate an inclusive consultation on this important issue.

We held three focus groups in which 24 Advocates from across Australia participated in honest, respectful and constructive discussions which informed the final report and recommendations provided to the Commission.

Combined with feedback received nationally from the public (including a submission from Dementia Australia), findings from the focus groups will be considered during development of the final clinical care standard and related documents, which will be rolled out in 2024.
