August 2024: Update from the Dementia Australia Advisory Committee

DAAC Dementia Australia Advisory Committee

Hi Everyone,

The National Advocates online drop-in meetings seem to be going from strength to strength. It is so encouraging to see so many Advocates coming along.

The last one, at the beginning of August, got us all fired up for Dementia Action Week which is just around the corner (Monday 16 to Sunday 22 September).

As many of you will know, the theme this year is Act Now for a Dementia-Friendly Future.

I know this is a busy time for so many Advocates who do wonderful things in increasing awareness in their local communities and beyond, so don’t forget to take care of yourselves whilst you are doing it.

DAAC is currently recruiting for a new member and, due to the current committee makeup, has sought applications specifically from Advocates living with dementia who live in or can represent the Northern Territory, ACT or Tasmania. Applications have now closed and the committee will share the outcome of the recruitment process in the next edition.

Don’t forget, if you have any news or queries, please feel free to contact me or other members of the DAAC on our email DAAC@dementia.org.au. We are always pleased to hear from you. Until the next time.

Chair, Dementia Australia Advisory Committee
