A call out for new Peer Leaders

Thursday, 25 May 2023Advocacy in Action
A Dementia Australia callout for peer leaders.

Six Advocates are currently featuring in a social media campaign encouraging others to join the one-on-one peer support program Connecting Peers.

Our thanks to Dominque O’Leary, Ann Pietsch, Phil Hazell, Sandra Timmins, Ann Lord and Graeme Barker for sharing their thoughts about the program and what it means to them to be a Peer Leader.

More than 40 Peer Leaders – a mix of carers, former carers and people living with dementia – are currently supporting 62 participants by phone and Zoom - but a waiting list of those keen to talk to someone with similar circumstances continues to grow.

Contact your Consumer Engagement Coordinator or email peer.support@dementia.org.au if you would like to learn more about becoming a volunteer Peer Leader.
