Consultation to improve local dementia support pathways and new Dementia Services Guide

Five Canberra Dementia Advocates came together for a consultation to inform a project by Capital Health Network on understanding how general practitioners and other health care workers can better meet the dementia diagnosis and support needs of the ACT community.
Advocates shared feedback on their experiences of getting a dementia diagnosis and accessing services as well as reviewing a newly-developed consumer resource for people living with dementia, carers, families, and friends.
This work is part of the Dementia Pathway Project, a collaboration between Dementia Australia and Primary Health Networks across Australia.
Capital Health Network will use the feedback to improve the pathways for dementia diagnosis and support in the ACT and for continuous improvement of their consumer resources.
Thank you to Dementia Advocates Adrian White, Jane Thompson, Sian Chadwick, Cam Stewart and Vickie Norcott who shared their time and expertise.
Access the Capital Health Network webpage for further information about the project and to download the ACT Dementia Services Guide. All updates made to the resources will be included on this page.
