Dear Prime Minister,

As someone who lives with dementia, I often worry what the future will hold for me.

When the time comes that I am no longer able to live at home, what will my options be?

We’ve all heard the horrible stories of abuse and neglect that have come from the Royal Commission.

The announcement yesterday tells me that we have been heard loud and clear.

Thank you, Prime Minister, for hearing us and taking action to improve my life and the lives of the almost half a million Australians who live with dementia.

My future is still unknown but tonight I can sleep a bit easier knowing change is coming.

Phil Hazell, Chair of the Dementia Australia Advisory Committee.
