Dementia Action Week (16-22 September), which includes World Alzheimer’s Day on Saturday 21 September, is fast approaching.
As a valued Dementia Advocate, you can make a difference in your own community by exploring and acting on what it means to be dementia-friendly.
Dementia Australia has all the information and resources you need to inspire your community to make a difference this Dementia Action Week.
How you can get involved in Dementia Action Week
To address the stigma and discrimination experienced by people living with dementia, their families and carers we encourage you to:
- Share your story to family, friends and your community to help them learn more about the needs of people living with dementia in your area.
- Contact your local council and ask them to commit to being dementia-friendly.
- If you are a member of any clubs, committees or organisations, consider adding Dementia Action Week as an agenda item at your next meeting and share our Toolkit for Businesses and Organisations.
- Join your local Dementia Alliance or find out how to start one.
- Encourage your coworkers, friends, family and community to become Dementia Friends.
If you have any ideas on how you can support Dementia Action Week in your community, please contact your Consumer Engagement Coordinator.
