Victorian Dementia Advocate Chris O’Kane was invited to speak at the Focus on Alzheimer's disease webinar, part of the St Vincent’s Institute’s Health Matters series.

Chris was asked questions about his life and the impact that dementia has had for him. The webinar also included St Vincent’s Institute researcher, Professor Michael Parker, who spoke about his work into discovering new treatments for Alzheimer's disease. Chris’ lived experience provided important context for the public and researchers in attendance.

The Consumer Engagement team supports Advocates such as Chris to be involved in research at all levels, including at events, where those with a lived experience in dementia speak alongside dementia research experts.

If you’d like to participate in activities like this, contact your state or territory’s Consumer Engagement Coordinator.
