The remake of the ABC sitcom ‘Mother and Son’, which debuted on 23 August, features actress and comedian Denise Scott OAM whose character Maggie lives with dementia.

Just over a year ago, the show’s producers contacted Dementia Australia as they were interested in talking to people impacted by dementia to help with the scripting.

They wanted to ensure they were authentic and that the humour used was appropriate.

The Dementia Advocates who took part in the consultation were:

  • Ann Pietsch – living with dementia
  • Claire Powell – carer for her partner
  • Russell Martin – living with dementia

Ann (pictured centre) attended the advanced screening of the show in Melbourne.

Dementia is a cause close to Denise Scott’s heart as she cared for her mother who lived with dementia.
