The officially recognised Dementia-Friendly Recreation Centre in Palmerston (Northern Territory) was the venue for a long-awaited stakeholder meeting this month.

Dementia Australia CEO Professor Tanya Buchanan hosted a morning tea and roundtable with Dementia Advocates and 25 staff from various organisations across the Northern Territory.

Tanya spoke about the new Dementia Australia Strategic Plan and support for building workforce capacity within the Northern Territory, working in partnership with Aboriginal Controlled Health Organisations.

Other key talking points were the need for greater research opportunities in the Northern Territory and for people to receive the right support at the right time.

There was also support for the new Dementia Specialist Navigators that Dementia Australia has advocated for in its Federal election campaign, which you can read more about in our media release.
