Juanita Hughes, Dementia Advocate and founding member of the Western Brisbane Dementia Alliance spoke to more than 35 library representatives about how libraries can become dementia-friendly.

In a short video Juanita talks about The Human Library Project at her local library and how important it is to have dementia-aware library staff ready to help library-goers living with dementia.

She encourages libraries to create an atmosphere where people can enjoy the moment and that small things can make a big difference in the library experience of people living with dementia.

The online library network is a platform for libraries across Australia to share initiatives and celebrate stories about supporting members of their community who are living with dementia to remain connected.

The network invites you to share your ideas on what would make your local library dementia-friendly. To get involved please contact us at DementiaFriendly@dementia.org.au.
