Music can be a great tool in dementia care. For our November Pick of the Month, our librarians have chosen this resource to assist carers to use music in caring for people living with dementia.

In ‘Living Well with Dementia through Music’, Catherine Richards and Helen Odell-Miller guide the reader through accessible activities such as singing, percussion, sounding bowls and other musical tools, whether or not the reader has any musical skills or experience.

The book shows how music may can be used from the early to late stages of dementia, and how this creative outlet can extend to inspire dance, movement, poetry and imagery.

‘Living Well with Dementia through Music’ is the perfect go-to guide for music-based activities with people living with dementia.
