Primary Health Networks gain valuable insights from Advocates

Dementia Advocates Janet Thomas, Jenny Fitzpatrick and Anthony Pollock shared their dementia diagnosis stories with staff from Primary Healthcare Networks (PHN) across Australia. The PHNs are a nation-wide network of 31 geographical areas who provide support and training to GPs in their areas.
This panel is part of a larger project Dementia Australia is working on with PHNs, aimed at strengthening local pathways to dementia care, specifically care provided by GPs.
During the panel discussion Janet, Jenny and Anthony focused on their experience with GPs and other health professionals, explaining types of actions that were empowering or disempowering.
The panel was a great success and feedback from the session highlights the importance of hearing from living experience experts.
“Thank you so much Anthony, Jenny and Janet, your collective experiences really help inform the work that we do and we are so grateful to you for telling your stories.” - PHN staff member.
Stay tuned for future opportunities to be involved in the PHN project.
