Strengthening Connections: Sunshine Coast, Queensland

Queensland’s Sunshine Coast region was the most recent destination for the Strengthening Connections Project.
Two meetings were held at the Buderim Bowls Club to connect Advocates and community members impacted by dementia.
Twelve people, including people living with dementia, family carers and others, attended the meetings. Juanita Hughes and Natalie Ive from the Dementia Australia Advisory Committee hosted the meetings and lead the discussion.
“It was brilliant! Do more of them… I really got a lot from the catch-up,” wrote one of the Advocates who attended.
One person living with dementia who joined the Advocates Program after the event said, “when I read the invitation about strengthening connections, I wanted to be part of it.”
It was a great opportunity for participants to share their journeys with each other and look at ways to stay connected within the Sunshine Coast community.
