Dementia training needs analysis: Tell TiNA
Tell TiNA is a dementia care training needs analysis tool that helps you better understand strengths and skills gaps in your dementia care workforce. Coming July 2025.

Tell TiNA is an innovative tool from Dementia Australia to help organisations build a comprehensive dementia care training strategy.
The National Dementia Education and Training Standards Framework outlines the level of knowledge and skill required of different roles within the workforce to deliver quality dementia care. It also provides a structure for providers like you to base your professional development programs on.
When the new Aged Care Act starts, there will be additional requirements in Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, where aged care providers must show a continuous quality improvement approach to workforce planning and human resource management, through tools like aged care training needs analysis.
Identifying your workforce’s strengths and their skills gaps isn’t always easy, which is why we have developed Tell TiNA, to help you meet your compliance requirements with confidence.

How Tell TiNA works
Tell TiNA is a new feature within Dementia Australia’s Ask Annie app. Staff delivering dementia care will be greeted by ‘Tina’, a character who prompts them to select their role and share a bit about their experience and confidence in supporting people living with dementia.
Then TiNA will ask them to answer questions about their dementia knowledge, to discover where their skills can be improved.

Assess staff skills
Staff will be asked 14 questions, based on the four tiers in the Framework, in four levels.
Once they successfully achieve the level expected for their role, staff can choose to stop or continue to the next level to determine the extent of their knowledge and skills.
When they’re done, they will receive their results, feedback and recommended next steps.

Results in real time
As a dementia care provider, Tell TiNA will enable you to see your staff’s results in real time, including across different sites, giving you evidence related to the Quality Standards that is needed to demonstrate commitment to dementia-specific education.
Tell TiNA delivers clear data on staff training needs, ensuring your training is precise, purposeful, and tailored to what your team truly needs.
You won’t just meet the standards: Tell TiNA will help you exceed them.
