Exploring the determinants for trauma-informed care within residential aged care: a needs assessment study.

Monash University

As part of the revised aged care standards, residential aged care organisations are required to provide trauma-informed care to residents. However, there is no RAC-specific trauma-informed care model or intervention.

As part of a PhD project, we are developing a trauma-informed care intervention specifically for residential aged care. In order to inform this intervention, we need to understand the existing knowledge, skills, attitudes, beliefs and resources of aged care staff to identify gaps and make recommendations.

This study has been approved by the Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee (application number 48766).

Participation

Monash University is looking for residential aged care staff to complete a short online survey so we can understand what you already know and think about trauma-informed care.

Everyone working in direct (e.g., nurses, carers) and indirect (e.g., management, administrative, pastoral care, lifestyle, support services) care roles can complete the survey. You don’t have to be directly providing care to residents.

The survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
