MemoryAid: A Home Assistant Device for People with Dementia

“MemoryAid” is a new assistive technology to support people with dementia to connect with loved ones through videocalls, and receive prompts and reminders for daily activities. It is designed to be dementia-friendly tech, and it works by picking up and hanging up the ringing phone handset. We want to learn about your experiences using MemoryAid so we can improve it and make it as useful as possible.

This study has been approved by the Western Sydney University Human Research Ethics Committee (H15726)

Participation

This study is for people with dementia who have a family care partner who would like to participate with them. 

It involves testing out a home assistant device "MemoryAid" in your home for a month, and using it to have videocalls and to prompt whatever tasks you would like reminders for. We will ask you to record observations about using the device and to tell us about your experiences in an interview. 

All participants receive reimbursement as a thank-you for your time and effort.
