Thank you to everyone who supported this year’s Dementia Action Week (16-22 September).

This year’s theme was ‘Act now for a Dementia-Friendly Future’ which focused on encouraging everyone to take the first step to learn more about dementia and how to shape our communities for the better.

Throughout the week Dementia Advocates were featured in the media, organised and attended events, and supported the campaign.

It was a huge success with lots of media coverage, interaction on social media and incredible support from politicians, businesses and organisations.

As mentioned in a previous Advocacy in Action story, Dementia Advocates Lil Mirtl and Bruce McDermaid were involved in the Dementia Action Week working group adding their experience to the planning of this important awareness-raising campaign.

We would love your feedback on this year’s campaign and will shortly send you a link to complete a reflection survey so that you can share your thoughts and recommendations.

Though Dementia Action Week 2024 has come to a close, there are still many things you can do to keep the conversation going in your community.

Visit the Dementia Action Week page on our website to find out how you can continue to advocate for dementia-friendly communities.

We will share more about Dementia Action Week in the next edition of Advocacy in Action.
