Experts in neurology hear from an advocate expert in dementia

Dementia Advocate Phil Hazell recently addressed a group of more than 20 neurologists associated with the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney.
Phil spoke about the pattern of his cognitive decline in the early years following his diagnosis. He then demonstrated a positive change in his cognitive abilities once he became more socially engaged and involved in widespread dementia advocacy, including his involvement in the Dementia Australia Advisory Committee.
He also spoke about the importance of his assistance dog Sara and how she has been instrumental in helping him to manage his dementia and continue to lead an extremely active, involved and engaged lifestyle.
The audience responded well to Phil's positive messages about life beyond a dementia diagnosis.
