[Beginning of recorded material]
Geoff: My name is Geoff, I'm 85, married to Betty, and we really keep an active life. I think that's one of the main things about it all. You can't just sit around and mope.
[visual: Geoff dances with Betty, Geoff walks with Betty]
Geoff: We have a walking group, we walk twice a week.
[visual: Geoff and Betty does indoor bowls, pus golf set in the car]
Geoff: We have indoor bowls, we still play golf every Friday, we play nine holes every Friday morning. We've got a list in the coffee shop where the indoor bowlers put their names down, and then Monday mornings, I'll go over and get the list, bring it back over here, and put the teams together. And then we might play 18 to 20 games in the afternoon. And then we all sit round and have a cup of tea and a biscuit, and it's good. It's good. Keeps us out of mischief.
[visual: Geoff makes toys in his workshop]
Geoff: Well, then I've got the workshop, so Betty says, "You going to that workshop again?" The workshop is my favourite spot, you could put it that way. We are making toys for charity, and for the last nine years anyway, we've been able to supply 300 toys a year. And I get a lot of satisfaction out of making toys for charity, and the fact that a lot of kids will get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
[visual: Geoff and Betty goes for a walk]
Geoff: The walking group has been great for us because you can relax, you can make your own pace, and you're getting a bit of exercise, getting a bit of benefit from it. It's a great thing for your mind because you're thinking about walking groups and who is going to be there? Where are you going to go? What can you see?
[visual: Geoff plays cards]
Geoff: If you want to be involved, you can. Your mind is active all the time in so many different ways that I think it's a big help. You're not sort of living on your own worries.
