Meet Natalie

Natalie is a former teacher who is passionate about guiding children with disabilities to be confident learners.

Natalie, who is 50 and lives in Melbourne, has younger onset dementia and primary progressive aphasia. She is a former special education/early years childhood teacher who is passionate about guiding children with disabilities to be confident learners.

Natalie uses a shopping list and headphones to focus while she does her grocery shopping. It’s small changes like this than can make a big difference for people living with dementia.

Natalie: As a former teacher, I always taught kids how to be confident learners. Then, when I was diagnosed with dementia, I had to teach myself some new tricks.

Natalie: Like when I go grocery shopping, I always take a list, tick off everything that goes in the trolley, and listen to music to block out distractions. Life's challenging, but I'm still learning. I can live well with dementia.
