November 2022: Update from the Dementia Australia Advisory Committee (DAAC)

Hello Everyone,
Hopefully you are all keeping well and are not being too severely impacted by our changeable weather conditions.
We have been pretty busy since my last report. Following our Board presentation, which I mentioned in a previous update, the committee is working on a business proposal for ‘Connecting with Advocates’. The purpose of this project is to set up meetings and networks that foster connections between Advocates in their regions, providing opportunity to raise issues and share advocacy skills and knowledge.
As part of an ongoing video project, the committee discussed the next steps for this project.
This includes starting to create three videos:
- A Dementia Australia staff and Board of Directors induction video
- DAAC new member welcome video; and
- Broader community and stakeholder video.
Get to know the DAAC members better by visiting the DAAC YouTube playlist and watching member profile videos (more to come!).
Other activities have included providing feedback on the Dementia Friendly Organisation Re-Design Project and holding the initial DAAC timely diagnosis and support sub-committee meeting. The sub-committee is creating a survey to send to the Advocates network about your experience with GPs and what you want to see from this DAAC project.
We are excited to report that there was a great response to DAAC’s recently held recruitment round for two new members and a wider DAAC interest group. The date for applications closed on 26 October and we look forward to sharing more details once the recruitment process is complete.
As this will be the final report for 2022, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Enjoy the Christmas break with your families, and I will look forward to coming back with fresh enthusiasm in the New Year.
