Twelve years of Illawarra: acknowledging founder Val Fell OAM

In the last newsletter we wrote about the 12th annual Illawarra Dementia Forum held in Fairy Meadow, New South Wales.
The forum is due to the tireless work of Dementia Advocate Val Fell OAM and we were remiss in failing to acknowledge and appreciate the work of Val and the organising committee in bringing the forum together.
The forum has a rich and significant history.
Val has given everything to ensure it continues to raise awareness, inform and encourage those with an interest and passion in dementia to join collective efforts to fight stigma and unfavourable stereotypes and create dementia-friendly communities.
This year’s event was bigger, bolder and better, attracting nearly 400 participants.
You can read more about the event in last month’s Advocacy in Action here.
