Co-designing the implementation of a medication management tool for people with dementia and their carers in hospital and at discharge.

The University of Sydney

In this study, researchers want to understand your experiences about medications when you went to hospital. Your experiences will help make practical improvements so that medicines are used safely at home or in residential aged care.

Ethics approval was obtained from the University of Sydney Human Research Ethics Committee [2025/HE000566].

Participation

We are inviting people living with dementia to share their experiences in a 45-60 minute conversation about medicines in hospital and at discharge.

Who can take part?
You can take part if you have been diagnosed with dementia, are able to provide your own consent, and have had at least one hospital stay since your diagnosis.
You can also take part if you are over 18 and have experience caring for someone with dementia who has had at least one discharge from hospital.

What’s involved and what will you receive?
Before we begin, you’ll complete a short form with basic information about you. Then you’ll join a 45-60minute focus group or interview, either in person (Greater Sydney) or online via Zoom. We can make communication adjustments (e.g., larger print, slower pace, breaks).
