Co-designing the implementation of a medication management tool for people with dementia and their carers in hospital and at discharge.
In this study, researchers want to understand your experiences about guidance for managing medications when you went to hospital and at discharge. Your experiences will help make practical improvements so that medicines are used safely at home or in residential aged care.
Ethics approval was obtained from the University of Sydney Human Research Ethics Committee [2025/HE000566].
Participation
We will be running focus groups, either in person or online via Zoom, depending on what suits you best. Each session will take about 45–60 minutes, and we are happy to provide any communication support you need, such as larger print, a slower pace, or breaks.
As a thank you for your time, you will receive a reimbursement.
Who can take part?
- People who have been diagnosed with dementia, are able to provide your own consent, and have had at least one hospital stay since their diagnosis
- People aged 18 or over who currently care for, or previously cared for, a person living with dementia who has had at least one discharge from hospital after their dementia diagnosis.
- Clinicians working in inpatient and/or rehabilitation settings with experience supporting people with dementia at admission, during stay, or at discharge.
