The research project is testing a potential new treatment for adults with Alzheimer's who also have measurable levels of a bacteria called Porphyromonas gingivalis in their saliva. This bacteria may increase the risk of developing Alzheimer's. 

This study has ethics approval from Bellberry 2025-09-1410-A-1 6/5/2026

Participation

People who meet the following criteria may be eligible to participate: 

  • Aged 55 - 85
  • A diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment or mild alzheimers dementia
  • Have greater than 50% of their own natural teeth 

Participation is for 7 months and involves 3 injections, MRIs, PET scan, and blood tests.
