Exploring consumer experiences of sensory environments in acute care: perspectives on reducing Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD).

The project aims to explore the lived experiences of older adults with NCD/dementia and their informal caregivers. It focuses on sensory environments in acute care settings and their influence on behavioural and psychological symptoms.

This study has been approved by the Western Sydney University Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC Approval No: H15934)

Participation

Participation involves an interview (online or in person). People who meet the following criteria may be eligible to participate:

  • Older adults (aged 60+) with a self-reported diagnosis of NCD/dementia who have been admitted to an acute care hospital within the past 12 months and are able to participate in an interview (in-person/ online)
  • Informal caregivers of individuals with NCD/dementia (any stage) who experienced behavioural and psychological symptoms during an acute hospital admission within the past 12 months 

Participant duration

1 hour interview
