Older people living alone with dementia: Exploring unmet needs, and barriers and facilitators to support

University of Sydney

We’re seeking participants for a University of Sydney research project exploring the experience of living alone with dementia.

Many people with dementia live alone, yet most systems assume they have a carer who can help them manage their condition, and international research shows this group often faces significant challenges that have not been studied in Australia.

Insights from this project will help improve services that support the health, social, functional and emotional needs of people living alone with dementia.

This study has been approved by the University of Sydney Human Research Ethics Committee (2025/HE001469)
