A Phase 2, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 48-week SAR448851 treatment followed by open-label extension in participants with early Alzheimer’s disease
This clinical study is investigating whether an oral study drug called SAR448851 is safe and effective at helping slow Alzheimer's disease by activating the brain's own cleanup cells — called microglia — which help clear harmful proteins that build up in the brain.
This study has ethical approval from Bellberry (2026-04-541) and The Alfred Hospital Human Research Ethics Committee.
Participation
Adults aged 55 to 85 may be able to participate if they have:
- Mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer’s disease or mild Alzheimer’s dementia
- A study partner who knows them well and has regular contact with them
The study will last about 2 years. Visits may include memory and thinking tests, blood and urine tests, medication diary, ECG, MRI and PET scans.
