Supporting the Ethical Use of Simulative Technologies

The University of Queensland

Simulative technologies like robot pets and virtual reality can support the wellbeing of people living with dementia but their use raises ethical questions. This study will bring together people with dementia, their families, care staff, policy and ethics experts to work through real-world dilemmas about how these technologies should be used in aged care homes. The goal is to develop practical, experience-based guidance for using these tools in a way that is ethical and respectful

This study has received ethical approval from the University of Queensland Human Research Ethics Board (2026/HE010106)
