Dementia Australia Research Foundation grants
2026 Dementia Grants Program - NOW OPEN
The Dementia Australia Research Foundation is pleased to announce the following grant round supporting talented new, early and mid-career researchers.
- Up to 2, capacity building Project Grants for early-career researchers
- Up to 2, Post-doctoral Fellowships, providing salary, research expenses and professional development for early-career researchers. One fellow will be awarded the Race Against Dementia - Dementia Australia Research Foundation Post-doctoral Fellowship, across the broad areas of dementia prevention or treatment.
- Up to 2, Mid-Career Research Fellowships, providing salary, research expenses and professional development for researchers who are establishing their career in dementia research.
- Up to 2, Clinical Practice Post-graduate Stipends for a health professional to embark on a career in dementia research.
- Up to 3, Professional Development, Travel and Collaboration Grants for researchers to build networks with well-known research teams, learn new skills and present their work, nationally or internationally. One recipient will be awarded the Dr Pratishtha Chatterjee Memorial Travel and Collaboration Grant.
- One Research Translation Grant in any area of dementia research.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Grant
The Dementia Australia Research Foundation has partnered with the Australian Association of Gerontology Research Trust to support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander researchers and practitioners working in the field of ageing. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Grant supports evidence-based knowledge about ageing in Indigenous Australian communities, to inform policy and program development.
As part of this scheme, one grant valued at $25,000 is on offer for a project with a dementia focus. Applications for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Grant close Monday 22 June 2026, 5pm AEST – further information is available here.

Webinar & Training
2026 Online grant overview session
The webinar, presented by the Sydney Dementia Network, will provide an outline of the grants available in 2026 as well as insights and useful tips on preparing your grant application from reviewers, previous grant recipients and people with a living experience of dementia. A Q&A session with the audience will follow.

Stronger Research, Together
We are pleased to introduce Stronger Research, Together –an online training and information video series designed to support the involvement of people with a living or lived experience of dementia in research.
There are two distinct, but complementary parts to the Stronger Research, Together series:
- For researchers: An online training course designed to enhance your collaborative practices.
- For people with a living or lived experience of dementia: A dedicated video series on our website that can be shared with the people you involve in your research.
We encourage all researchers to access and learn from these new resources to strengthen not only your grant applications but your research overall.
