Dementia Action Week wrapped up

As mentioned in the last Advocacy in Action, Dementia Action Week in September was a great success with the help of many Dementia Advocates.
We’ve outlined below some of the key achievements of the campaign.
We profiled six dementia-friendly initiatives on our website and social media channels. You can view all these videos below.
- Swan Valley Memory Café featuring the Swan Dementia Alliance
- Pennant Hills Golf Club featuring Dementia Advocate Scott Cooper
- Parrots for Purpose featuring Dementia Advocate Ron Pia and his wife Cherry
- LGBTI+ Memory Lane Café featuring Dementia Advocate Mithra Mahadeva (pictured above)
- The National Gallery of Victoria featuring Dementia Advocates Michelle Dalton and Natalie Ive
- Edge Hill Bowls Club featuring the Far North Queensland Dementia Alliance
Dementia Action Week content reached more than 500,000 people on social media with our working group showcase, dementia-friendly case studies and ambassador videos being viewed and liked by thousands of people across the country.
We received more than 1,000 media mentions, reaching over 8 million people across TV, radio, online and print news outlets.
We engaged with 520 Councils and Local Government Areas as well as more than 800 federal, state and territory members of parliaments.
We supported more than 100 community events with Dementia Action Week merchandise packs.
We also had a staggering 170 per cent increase in people registering to become a Dementia Friend.
Thank you to all Dementia Advocates who were involved in activities during Dementia Action Week.
